But despite these positive developments, only 13% currently measure carbon emissions from their events. The main reason for this low figure is that it is not considered a priority metric for many organisations (43%), and many respondents agree that they don’t have the tools or resource in-house to do so (40%).
Often, when sustainability data is captured, it isn’t used for anything specific, although some organisations use it for reporting and to plan future events.
There is little confidence among our survey respondents about producing sustainable events – only 26% feel very or extremely confident in this area, with 74% feeling only somewhat confident or not confident at all. 64% agree that they could benefit from support to measure carbon emissions.
