Introduction
Collectively, we are not on track to meet the UN’s SDGs by 2030.
According to our recent insights report, based on a survey and interviews with industry experts, 97% of respondents consider sustainability a factor in their decision-making, with 39% considering it a very important factor.
But only 14% currently measure carbon emissions from their events.
As an industry, why aren’t we doing more?
Sustainability has become a critical consideration in the planning and execution of events. Whether they be conferences, trade shows, corporate gatherings, or festivals, events leave a significant environmental footprint due to factors such as energy consumption, waste generation and transportation.
Research shows that event organisers, stakeholders, and delegates increasingly recognise the environmental, social and economic impact of the events they run or attend.
But while growing concerns around climate change, resource depletion and social responsibility have led to sustainability emerging as hot topic in the industry, progress is painfully slow.
The Aspect Green Guide explores the reasons for this and provides actionable guidance for how we can do more – together.
